Our Business

The Morton Accounting Service was created out of a love for the accounting profession and a desire to help small business owners gain a better understanding of their organizations and the financial implications that occur through normal business operations. We pride ourselves on providing our clients with personal service and meticulous attention to detail.

Who We Are

Melissa C. Morton, CPA

Owner

Melissa had an early love for math and determined at the very young age of eleven that she would be a CPA when she grew up. She started accounting classes during high school and went on to graduate from Jackson State University with a Bachelors in Business Administration - Accounting. Directly out of college she started working at a large Oil & Gas company upon determining that she needed to progress with her goals and went back to college. She attended University of West Georgia to obtain her Masters in Business Administration.

With the completion of her Masters degree she began studying to obtain her CPA designation while working as an external auditor with a Big Four Public Accounting Firm. After years in public accounting and years in industry in various roles including an internal auditor, The Morton Accounting Services was birthed from a desire to provide personalized accounting services to small business owners. With almost 15 years of experience, the love of accounting and helping her clients understand accounting has never faded.
